KUE UHU' UHU' ( Bannang- Bannang- )




If you visit Bulukumba Regency, you must enjoy the typical Uhu-uhu Bulukumba. You will easily find this sweet snack in Bontobahari District.


This snack is called Uhu-uhu or commonly called Bannang-bannang because it looks like hair. Named from the word "uhu" which means "hair", this cake is indeed similar to curled hair.


Bannang-bannang can be found along the coastal road of Tanjung Bira. The price is also relatively cheap with IDR 10,000 to IDR 25,000 you can already enjoy the sweet and crunchy taste of this snack.


Making this cake is easy, the tools and ingredients are difficult. This cake uses brown sugar as a sweetener.

The tools used to print Uhu-uhu cakes are still very traditional, namely by using coconut shells with small holes.


Uhu-uhu cake is made from rice flour dough that is shaped like spider webs using a mold made from coconut shells that were perforated earlier, in hot oil. After being colored and crispy, the Uhu-uhu cake is then removed.


Next and finally covered with brown sugar or palm sugar, Uhu-uhu cake is ready to be enjoyed.
